Back to School Picnic: The evening before the first day of school, the PTA sponsors a picnic for the students and their families. It's a chance for children to see their friends and to meet new people.

Welcome Back & New Parent Coffee: On the first day of school a coffee will be held in the MPR for parents to join friends for a cup of coffee while the children start their first day of school.

Back to School Night: Is a parent-only event to introduce the administration, faculty, staff and PTA representatives. Parents will meet with their children's classroom teachers and learn about plans and activities for the upcoming school year.

Teacher Appreciation & Welcome Luncheons: PTA sponsors a luncheon to show appreciation for our dedicated teachers, faculty and staff by hosting two annual luncheons. The first is held before the start of the school year as our way of saying “welcome.” The second is held at the end of the school year to say “thank you” for their dedication throughout the year.

Family Camp Out: A fun filled sleeping under the stars at Cabrillo! Families set up their tents on the back lawn and camp out. Children ride their bikes and scooters, have dinner, sit around a campfire and enjoy spending time with their family and friends.

Family Nights: Periodically, the PTA sponsors cultural evenings for the entire family. Free or for a nominal fee. This year we'll have the annual Disco Dance and Bingo Night. Your family will love it!

Miss Nelson's Book Fair/Scholastic Books: This year will be held in November and in the spring in the library at the school. This provides students and their families the opportunity to purchase high quality books at low cost. All proceeds benefit Juan Cabrillo library.

Jog-a-thon: A fun way for your child to exercise and to earn money from family and friends by asking for pledges for the amount of laps run or a flat donation. The money earned will benefit a program that has been chosen.

Red Ribbon Week: This nationally acclaimed anti-drug education program takes place each year. Weeklong activities culminate with the distribution of achievement certificates to students for helping to keep themselves, their school and their community, healthy and drug free.

Reflections: This annual PTA sponsored art, essay, music and photography contest encourages creative expression by all interested participants. Each year students are given a central theme on which to base their artistic interpretations. All children are invited to participate in this competition.

Fiesta Malibu: Is a carnival held at Juan Cabrillo which takes place at the beginning of May close to Cinco de Mayo. It is a fun filled day event with age appropriate games for our children. The Bilingual Committee provides the food.

Kindergarten Round-Up: Bring your prospective kindergartener to meet the kindergarten teachers and see the kindergarten classes in action. Find out all the information you need to help your child with this transition.

Open House: Parents and children are invited to observe the progress the children have made throughout the school year. Open House also provides an opportunity for parents to visit the teachers and other classes in preparation for the following year.

Art Show: Your children are so creative! Parents are invited to see their child's work on display. The children love to see their work of art. The Art Show is held during Open House. It's a show that can't be missed!
